Expertise

I focus on the following areas in my client projects: working with clients to prototype new Web-based applications using Drupal or hand-coded HTML/CSS/PHP; and designing the user experience through conducting end-user interviews, performing task-based analysis, and creating mental models. Regardless of the deliverable, I believe it is critical to understand the thought processes and motivations of end-users in order to understand how any system is will be used and how it is designed. Finally, I provide project leadership through clearly stated goals, tangible scopes of work documented and approved by business and technical stakeholders, and through strategic and tactical communication throughout the project lifecycle.

  Defining and implementing process improvements that result in streamlined development, better understanding of functional roles, and improved communication. Establishing a product vision, strategies, and objectives based on industry opportunity and customer needs.

• Definition
  

  Creating user stories, use cases, information architecture, functional specifications, and application workflow that result in the simplest possible user experience in applications that solve specific business needs.

• Execution
  

  Managing cross-functional teams of subject matter experts, product designers, testers, and engineers to deliver critical applications and implementations on-budget and on-time.

• Validation
  

  Conducting "discount" usability studies to validate user experience and ease-of-use. Designing and conducting user acceptance and user training for smooth product roll-outs and client transitions.

• Leadership
  

  Establishing project leadership roles that result in successful application delivery and reference clients. Managing partnership development from identification, to contract negotiation, to implementation. Identifying and pursuing new revenue sources.
